    The Philip Keyes Leadership Summit


    This long weekend will bring together chapter leaders from across the region to help plan for the future of NEMBA. It will be a few days of activities including, but not limited to:


    • networking, community building
    • share ideas and a libation,
    • breakout topics led by your peers
    • state specific advocacy discussions
    • bike rides!

    We hope you can join us!

    Plan for:

    Friday (optional): Informal evening gathering, details TBD
    Saturday: Reg begins at 8am, followed by a full day of sessions, meals and riding
    Sunday: Breakfast, morning session, optional ride

    **Saturday's conference will include a continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a cash bar.

    **Sunday’s conference will include a hot breakfast and trail snacks.

    **Accommodations for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options can be made for all food services with notification ahead of time. Please contact Amanda@NEMBA.org with any specific requests

    NEMBA Women's+ Skills & Ride Leader Training Course

    How to teach skills, keep it safe, and bring on the fun! This class is designed for NEMBA leaders, members and friends, who will be leading beginner and/or intermediate clinics, sessions, or rides with skills components in 2023. 

    Led by our friends from Hale Education, this is the first of our NEMBA series as we roll out a women's+ mtb skills series in each state in 2023. This course is geared to participants who will help lead local clinics/skills sessions.

    WHEN:

    Saturday April 8th from 10am -3pm

    This Training Course will be led by our friends at Hale Education!

    Our Schedule/Format: 

    • 9:30  - Registration
    • 10am -1pm  - Clinic
    • 1pm -1:30pm - Lunch (provided by NEMBA)
    • 1:30pm -3pm - Group ride


      PARTICIPATION:

      This event has limited slots.  Registering does not guarantee a spot.  Participants will be selected based on experience, commitment to lead a session, geographic distribution and order of registration.  NEMBA will send notification to registrants by March 27th confirming spots.

      RINEMBA - Remy Cycle Level 1 Foundational Skills Clinic

      In partnership with Remy’s Cycle of Westerly RI, RINEMBA is happy to bring you a Level 1 Foundational Skills Clinic

      When:

      April 29 & 30. 9am - 3pm

        Details:

        In partnership with Remy’s Cycle of Westerly RI RINEMBA is happy to bring you a Level 1 Foundational Skills Clinic. Are you a newer rider and want to learn the basic skills to have more fun on the trail? Have you been riding for a few years but feel that you could use some skill instruction?

        Whether you are a new rider or an experienced rider, the skills in the Foundational Skills Clinic can improve your riding and give you the building blocks to progress further. Newer riders will learn good habits to grow as mountain bikers, while more seasoned riders will be able to break down bad habits and curb them.

        PMBIA certified instructors will be teaching body position, braking techniques, and wheel lifts that will have you cornering and riding tech with more flow. This would be a perfect opportunity to ask questions and get live critiquing of your riding. Along with skills, we will also be talking through emergency repair kits and general “rules of the road”.

        To participate, equipment is subject to minimum requirements for safety:

        1) Helmets must be US CPSC certified and up to date (sticker on inside of helmet)

        2) Forks must not have “Not for offroad use stickers” on them

        3) Handlebars must be fitted with bar ends

        4) Minimum of 1.95 tire width

        5) Disc brakes


        **We recommend visiting your local bicycle shop if you have any questions**

        **The minimum age requirement is 14 accompanied by a parent or guardian also registered for the class**

        **Riders must be able to provide themselves with adequate food and water throughout the day**

        We will be providing sandwiches and snacks during a mid day intermission please let us know about any allergies ahead of time.

        NEMBA Trail School

         in partnership with Bent Water Brewing

        We're excited to bring back our two day trail school teaching the basics of trail assessment and maintenance as well as trail design and construction

        This course is perfect for riders, trail enthusiasts, land stewards, and land managers interested in learning about creating sustainable, enjoyable trails and how to take care of them.

        This two day course will involve hands-on building clinics covering tool/group safety review, inclinometer usage, trail design/layout, trail assessment, and bench cutting.

        Date: Saturday, May 6th thru Sunday, May 7th 
        Time: 8:30am to 3:30pm
        There will be an optional group ride immediately following on the local trails.

        Location: Woody Hill Preserve, Rhode Island

        Cost:
        Early BirdNEMBA Members: $150, Non-NEMBA Members: $175
        Early bird ends April 3rd NEMBA Members: $175, Non-NEMBA Members: $200
        Participation limited to 50 people.

        Food & Beverage:

        Saturday will include a trailside breakfast (coffee, bagels, donuts), lunch (sandwiches or wraps), and dinner.

        There is no fee for this event. Participants have the option to make a $20 lunch donation and/or to donate In Memory of Philip Keyes. We are working on options for a legacy-level project to memorialize Philip for both NEMBA and the larger mountain biking community. Your contribution will be designated to support this forthcoming legacy project as well as mountain bike advocacy, trails,  grants, and education efforts close to Philip's heart.

        We are excited to partner with Adaptive Sports Partners to ensure all women and gender expansive riders with disabilities feel welcomed and supported at this event.  Adaptive Sports Partners is able to provide adaptive mountain bikes and equipment, specialized instructors, and support riders, in order for you to enjoy this amazing event.         We are excited to head back to Carrabassett Valley of Maine. One of the most spectacular areas of New England. 

        The 2023 edition of NEMBAfest will look slightly different than 2022. We're moving the entire festival up to Sugarloaf Mountain so that the expo, camping and all the fun will be in one convenient location.

        We're planning the same great family-friendly event to celebrate all things mountain biking. As more details become available we'll update the event website - nembafest.com - and communicate with vendors/sponsors, and attendees. Become a sponsor and/or reserve your vendor booth today!

      NEMBA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on recreational trails advocacy with 33 Chapters throughout New England and over 8,000 members. Our goal is to promote the best that mountain biking has to offer, steward the trail systems where we recreate, and ensure access to open space.
