NEMBA All Skills will bring together some of the best instructors in New England (hailing from Hale Education, and more) to  level up your mtb game.  

Find the clinic that fits you, from foundations, to pressure control and timing,  youth clinics and full sends into the airbag, we'll have something for everyone, beginner to advanced. 

And, if you just wanna go for a ride, hang with some great people... we've got you covered. With a day full of led group rides, you can wander into the woods for a fun day on the bike!

Adult Fundamentals 

This clinic takes advantage of a controlled environment to focus on fundamental skills like stability and balance through body position and range of motion, operational controls like shifting and cadence, and  terrain awareness. If you’re somewhat new to riding and eager to shred trails and have more fun, this session is for you.

Adult Cornering - MORNING & AFTERNOON SOLD OUT!

Learn how to flow and ride through different types of corners leveraging the different skills of mountain biking

Adult Intermediate/Advanced -  MORNING & AFTERNOON SOLD OUT!

This clinic will explore more advanced mountain bike skills such as pressure control and timing & coordination good for overcoming larger obstacles, riding rock gardens, lifting front and rear wheels,  and rolling down features.   This clinic focus on managing and actively responding to pressures from the terrain (compressing) as well as proper timing & coordination by going through a proper jump and drop progression including:

  • Proper techniques for front, rear, level wheel lifts, and more
  • Learn how to properly clear (up to) a 6-foot gap jump
  • Learn how to go off (up to) a 4-foot drop
  • Time permitting, you will learn how to conquer large rock rollers, properly ride a rock garden, wheel lift over rocks/logs, ride a skinny, and more.

    Youth (Ages 8-13) 101 - Introduction to MTB 

    Learn the basics of mountain biking. Session includes drills and riding time. Learn basic skills like reading trails, braking, shifting, safety

    Youth (Ages 8-14) - Intermediate/Advanced MTB - Taught by Hale Education

    Suited to confident riders,  this session  introduces technical trails and offers time in Hale’s private skills park.  

    Youth Jump Clinic (Ages 10-15) (morning only) - Taught by Hale Education

    This clinic focuses exclusively on jumps.  Learn to go from wheel lifts to bunny hops to small gap jumps, and we’ll make progress together as we cover the mechanics of how to take off and safely land on flats and descents.

    Adaptive Mountain Bike Fundamentals and basic skills clinic by Spaulding Adaptive Sports aMTB program. For adults with physical disabilities who want to work on their fundamentals or basic skills. Either bring your own bike or sign up through Spaulding Adaptive Sports to use one of their adaptive bikes.    sasc.spauldingrehab.org 


    Group Ride Descriptions - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY  and CHOOSE APPROPRIATELY!

    1. Novice and family: enjoy scenic gravel, two-track and easy singletrack trails around Hale. Kids and first-timers on the mountain bike welcome. Friendly pace 4-5 miles, 60-90 min., mostly flat, beginner friendly terrain.
    2. Beginner+ Intro to Flow: ride a mix of Hale’s most fun green trails and a little bit of blue, perfect for “second-timers” and advanced beginners looking to get in a groove. Moderate pace 6-8 miles, 1.5 – 2 hours, mostly two-track and singletrack flow but a few rocks and short climbs.  
    3. The Classic Intermediate: take the “all-over-Hale” big fun loop that everyone loves from the SE Mass NEMBA Turkey Afterburner event. Covers the Office Loop to Storrow Pond to Oak Hill and everything in between. Moderate pace, 8-10 miles, 2 – 2.5 hours, intermediate to advanced terrain with singletrack flow, some rocks and chunk, rolling uphill and downhill, and some wee bit challenging bridge and dam crossings.
    4. Intermellow - Peaks of Hale: have fun “peak-bagging” the 4 scenic vistas of Cat Rock, Powisset Peak, Nimrod Rock and Noanet Peak. Great views in all directions including the Boston skyline framed by changing fall leaves. Friendly no-drop pace 8-10 miles, 2 – 2.5 hours, intermediate to advanced terrain, and lots of climbing (duh). There will be bits of walking up to the top (no more than 25m) at a couple of the stops.
    5. Intermellow - Ponds and Streams of Hale: Or have fun on the “7 ponds” route, a creative singletrack loop that links all the most interesting waterbodies and waterways in Hale and surrounding environs. Observe active beaver colonies in action! Friendly no-drop pace 8-10 miles, 2 – 2.5 hours, intermediate to advanced terrain, not as much climbing but plenty of rocks and bridge/dam crossings.
    6. Intermellow – Women+: Women+ specific intermellow ride, group choice to follow route #3, #4 or #5!
    7. Hale Tech - Progression: For experienced or learning trail riders, the most can’t-miss part of Hale is the purpose-built special tech and rock feature trails like Power Glide, Strawberry Hill and Powisset. Challenge yourself on these trails in a supportive group where you can stop and session and work on progressing skills. Moderate pace, 6-8 miles, 2 – 2.5 hours, expert terrain + if time, hit the skills park to work on drops and jumps.
    8. Hale Tech - Spicy: For expert riders, move a little more quickly and get the “whole enchilada” Hale tech experience on all of #7 plus even more challenging sections on the Oak Hill side like Powerline and Peacock Ridge. Challenging pace, 8-10 miles, 2 – 2.5 hours, expert terrain.
    9. Hale Tech – Women+: Women+ specific tech ride, group choice of pace and route from #7 or #8
    10. Greater Hale Big XC: Be ready for experience the “Vermont Simulator” on this long and fast- paced route that includes the best of Hale as well as adjacent trail areas in Dover and Medfield. Spicy pace 18-20 miles, 2.5- 3 hours, intermediate and advanced terrain with lots of singletrack flow, areas of chunk and rocks, punchy climbing and fast descents totaling 1500’+ elevation gain, and scenic vistas for days
